Calgardup Cave is one of the 2 self-guided caves managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). Basic equipment is Included in your entry fee plus information from the friendly Parks Office staff. Leisurely explore via a walkway with hand rails and view the exquisite cave decorations naturally by torchlight. 15 minutes south of Margaret River.
Calgardup Cave has a seasonal underground lake The DEC say: "The lake at the bottom of the right hand section displays magical reflections of the stalactites suspended above, giving the illusion of great depth in the water (which is actually only a few centimetres deep!). The water in the lake is a deep tea colour due to tannins picked up on the surface from vegetation."
Opens daily except Dec 25 and 26 from 9am to 4.15pm.
The National Park Information Centre based at the cave has a great information on camping, cultural and historical heritage sites, maps and other activities. There is a picnic table near the information centre to enjoy and a toilet.
